Handmade Wedding Dress Chapter 14: The Photos, and the End.

May 1, 2019

Oh my goodness! I can’t believe it’s finally done! I don’t have any construction details to share anymore - it’s all done - so I figured I’d wrap up with a link breakdown of all the posts in chronological order (though you can also find them on the Wedding Dress Category Page) - so here’s that, along with a whole pile of dress photos I haven’t shared with you yet!

And So It Begins: The Introduction to Project Wedding Dress

Chapter 1: Dress Research

Chapter 2: Sketches and Plans

Chapter 3: Padding my Dress Form

Chapter 4: Fabric and Supplies

A small catchup on Dress and Wedding Planning

Chapter 5: Building the Slate Frame, drafting the bodice, ending the YouTube Videos

Chapter 6: Starting the Tambour Beading

Chapter 7: More Tambour Beading

We got Married!!

Wedding Photos have arrived!

Chapter 8: Constructing the Corselet

Chapter 9: Dyeing the Fabric

Chapter 10: Constructing the Bodice

Chapter 11: Skirt Construction and Assembly

Chapter 12: Attaching the Embroidery to the Dress

Chapter 13: Hem Party and Finishing Touches

These photos are all from the wedding day - I’ve pulled all the detail shots and fun little moments, and I think it paints a lovely picture of how different the beading was in different lighting, and how the dress behaved throughout the day. All photos by our friend and amazing photographer Wojciech.

I still feel like I have so much to tell you - Jon’s outfit, my flower crown, the DIY flower arrangements and cute little signs and lawn games we made - but the dress’s story ends here. What a journey it’s been! I hope you’ve enjoyed the ride as much as I have, and I hope you don’t mind that next week’s post might not be at all related to weddings of any kind! I do have one more thing to say though - in addition to all of the amazing things I’ve learned in this process, all the amazing people I’ve met along the way, and the guy I got to marry at the end - one other truly wonderful thing happened as a result of this dress: I’m going to be teaching a workshop on Tambour Beading and Embroidery! If you’re going to be in Sydney, Australia in November 2019, you’re going to want to check out Camp Stitch Sydney - I’m so excited to be a part of the first year of this fabulous camp!

In the meantime, I’m back to sewing (an emphasis on tailoring lately!) and currently working on picking out my next big beading project. Thank you for all your love and support over the last year while I made this dress, it truly wouldn’t be the same without you!
